When we started out, we used hand-me-down pots and pans, unmatched, not great quality–you know, early family style. I thought these pots and pans (T-Fal Professional VX3 Brushed Nonstick with Stainless Steel Handle Cookware Set 8 Piece) might be like a step above hand-me-down quality. You know, not great but still a matched set. I was wrong.
This aluminum cookware is very nice! They have surprisingly heavy bottoms (a very good thing). I’m expecting them not to warp with time. The long handles are attached very securely with 3 rivets. No wiggling at all. And having the removable silicone sleeves saves me the trouble of buying some and the aggravation of getting ill-fitting ones that fall off in the cabinet.
I’m not experienced with non-stick surfaces, other than knowing one must not use metal utensils so as not to scratch them, so this opinion is not coming from a place of expertise, but the surfaces seem dense and like they won’t easily degrade (given proper usage), and they really are non-stick. I tested with an egg, and didn’t need any cooking spray. I haven’t yet, but I’m hoping soon to test the skillet with pita and tortillas to see if it’ll work as well as my cast iron.
The lids are fantastic. Heavy glass encircled with what looks like stainless steel, a vent in the glass, and a silicone-coated handle. They make a nice tight fit on the pan.
These are supposed to be OK for use in an oven up to 400F with the silicone sleeves or 500F without the sleeves. I’ll confess that I’m nervous about using nonstick in the oven… not for any particular reason, but it may take me a while to work up to trying it.
This may still be considered a starter set of cookware, but if so, it’s a high-quality starter set. Not everyone can afford an expensive stainless steel set of pots and pans, and not everyone likes it. Some people swear by nonstick-coated pans, and these are very good nonstick pans.

Let me start out this review with a bit of a confession. I CAN cook but…I don’t really love it. I have been in the process of learning to be better at it in the last 4-5 years, but most of the time, I tend to make pretty easy things with some more elaborate dishes now and then for special occasions and such, just to make things interesting and continue to improve my skills.
This cookware set made me WANT to cook more from the moment it arrived, and I honestly feel that it has made me a BETTER cook as well.
With that said…we ordered this to replace our aging cookware which has a few pieces that were starting to chip at the rim. I didn’t want to keep using any non-stick with a breach in it, no matter how small. Between that and the fact that we had our kitchen completely remodeled earlier this year…it felt like the right time to take that plunge.
While I have owned a few “one off” pieces of T-fal items here and there, this was the first time getting a whole new set. I don’t know why I waited so long because…if I had to sum up this entire review in just one word, it would be AMAZING!
From the moment you take these out of the box, you know that you are about to welcome a professional grade, beautifully designed and highly enjoyable to use product. Each pan and lid is meticulously wrapped and in it’s own specialty “groove” in the box – it almost felt like opening up a pair of expensive designer shoes.
Once I got over that “WOW!” factor, the first thing that I noticed was how well built absolutely everything in this set is. From the handles to the bottoms to the cooking surface, each item in the set is very nicely designed and made – they have heft to them, and I mean that in the best way possible. That is something that you definitely want in a cookware set, especially if you are planning on keeping it for a long time. The lids are sturdy glass and even they have the silicone covers so that you can feel good about taking one off while cooking and not sorry about accidentally scalding your hand, even without an oven mitt. They truly thought of everything in designing these, and it shows!
So needless to say, yes…this cookware set is GORGEOUS and it looks like it belongs in a professional kitchen or a cooking show (eat your heart out, Gordon Ramsay!) But…the really important thing about this set is obviously this: How do they work?
I’m thrilled to say that they cook even better than they look – so these are not just nice looking pans. They look AND feel AND cool like a professional chef grade product, 100%. Here are some of the standouts that I feel makes these such a great set:
1. The non stick surface is truly non stick – probably better than any other pan I’ve ever used as far as how easy it is to remove your food to flip or serve. The surfaces of each of these are perfectly even so there are no “hot spots” that I have found yet so your food cooks perfectly evenly EVERY single time.
2. The handles are longer than most other pans I’ve seen or used and that’s actually a GOOD thing because they don’t heat up very much at all even without the silicone grip in place. The first item that we maden was something that required some time in the oven and it’s never been easier for us to do that than it was with this skillet – impressive! It performed like a champ and we made a delicious meal with it that surprised even us as to how easy it truly was.
3. The heat indicator on these is a unique feature that I’ve never seen in any other cookware either and boy is THAT useful!! It was SUPER easy to see when the pan was sufficiently pre-heated, saving us time and effort, which we greatly appreciated.
4. The stock pot is fantastic for making soups, chili or anything that you need to cook for a long time – it performed beautifully on my “famous” chili recipe and it cut down my prep time…heck, I even think it made it taste better, ha ha. I used to think that stock pots were all created equal…but they are definitely not, and having a good one really does make a different. Ladies and gentlemen, this isn’t a good one. It’s a GREAT ONE!!
5. They are also VERY easy to clean! They look good as new after the first few uses and I have no doubt that they will still look that way after the 1000th use. I was pleasantly surprised to learn after reading the box they came in that they are made out of 100% recycled aluminum. So not only are they GREAT pans, they are environmentally conscious too.
I could go on but honestly…if you are sitting on the fence wondering if these pans are worth buying, I can tell you that they are not only a great buy for $149 but they are worth EVERY penny and then some. These are not pans you will need to replace in 5 years or even 10 years. These are pans that will help you make great meals at home for much longer than that…I have no doubt. And the good news is that in the even something does happen to something in your set, they are covered by a limited lifetime warranty. Not a lot of items do that anymore, especially not cookware and it’s almost unheard of at this price point. So that should tell you something right there, yes?
This set would make a great gift too for anyone who is moving to a new house, going out on their own, getting married, simply wants to start cooking more, or really ANY reason. If you are looking for something nice to buy for your mom and/or dad for a holiday…hint hint…you will instantly become her favorite child if you show up with just this cookware set with a bow on top 😉
If you are looking for professional feeling cookware that does NOT cost a small fortune, is a pleasure to use, and that will make you feel like a gourmet chef no matter if you are making a complicated meal or just some mac and cheese…then I highly, HIGHLY recommend this cookware. It’s absolutely fantastic in every way, including the value that you get for the price. I would rate this set 5,000 stars if I could!!

I recently purchased the T-Fal Professional VX3 Cookware Set, and overall, I’m quite pleased with my choice. The nonstick surface works exceptionally well, making cooking and cleanup a breeze. The stainless steel handles are sturdy and remain cool to the touch, which is a nice feature when you’re cooking at high temperatures.
However, I was a bit disappointed to discover that the cookware is made of aluminum, as noted on the box. I was hoping for a heavier, more durable material. There are concerns about aluminum cookware, especially if the surface gets scratched. Using acidic foods like vinegar or lemon juice can potentially cause aluminum to leach into the food, which isn’t great for health.

When I got this, I was just looking at the T-Fal name, and ‘non-stick’. I was somehow thinking this set was stainless steel, but it’s not. It does have SS handles. These pans are coated with PTFE, otherwise known as Teflon, which I knew T-Fal was known for – but thought that Teflon was no longer used as a coating. The pans work. They are truly non-stick as long as you don’t overheat them. They require care. I am on the line as far as using non-stick coated pans, and it is noted in online searches that if the coating is scratched or starts coming off, to throw them away, not exactly a desirable option. The jury is still out on whether I am really going to use this set or not. It looks good. It cooks well. But the coating is an iffy thing.
“Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fluoropolymer with many industrial applications. It’s also known by its trade name, Teflon.”
PTFE is a chemical combo in the category of PFE’s, aka forever chemicals. These microplastics stay in the environment, are are so ubiquitous as to be found in newborn babies. They are found in all of the environment – fish, soil, people, animals. The very reason they are durable, is what makes them resistant to biodegradation.
However in the last 10 years, one component of Teflon cookware was changed; the use of PFOA’s, which were noted to be toxic (you can research that.) This is no longer used, so Teflon of yesterday is not the Teflon of today.

T-Fal is a brand known for their massive number of nonstick pans on the market, and with this addition to their collections it feels more professional than ever. I can’t say enough that this is just a beautiful set! The perfect way to get set up in a new kitchen or replace some over used pots and pans in your cabinets. The build quality on these is immaculate. While I believe a good amount of it is made of aluminum it still feels great, very heavy and sturdy. The non-stick coating on these is flawless and is advertised as super strong and heat resistant which is incredible. High heat resistance means you don’t have to worry about any negative health effects coming off your non-stick unless you really scorch these pans.
The handles feel super strong and are comfortable in the hand as they’re long keeping you away from the heat and have the silicone handles that in my experience haven’t even gotten so much as warm. With such high heat resistant these are great for meals that start on the stove top and then get finished in the over even up to temps as high as 500 degrees. They’re flawlessly easy to clean even when searing meat I was able to wipe the pan practically clean without any soap or water. The array of pots and pans in this collection is perfect and covers every size you could need, whether you’re making something small or a huge dish for the whole family you’re set. The lids are also interchangeable with the pans so whatever you’re doing this has set has everything.
The only questionable thing I find with this set is that the lids are uncoated stainless or aluminum sitting on top of non-stick coating which may eventually cause the top sides of these to start chipping where the lids sit. So far though my set is still looking like new! The thermo spot tech is a bit of a gimmick that I find hard to see even when my pan is well preheated and temped using an IR thermometer. You can tell that even though the bottom of these pans is aluminum it’s good quality because when I heated it over a gas flame it left absolutely no marks or distortion of the metal. Since the bottoms aren’t plated the heating is nice and even all around the pan with no hot spots while cooking.
I absolutely love this new pro-line of cookware from T-Fal. As someone who uses a lot of stainless steel in their kitchen I’ll say that there’s always going to be a few dishes that need non-stick and this set is some of the best you can get for your money. Since this set stays safe at higher temps and made with such a strong non-stick coating you can feel confident that you’re still cooking healthy with these pans. This set will last you a very long time if you take care of it and the value is absolutely incredible on a set of 5 high quality pots and pans. T-Fal is a pretty trusted brand already and nobody makes a more nonstick coating, now with the premium quality on this set I highly recommend them!
